Shema Tariq, PhD, FRCP

Biography

Dr. Shema Tariq is the Principal Research Fellow at UCL's Institute for Global Health and Honorary Consultant HIV Physician at Mortimer Market Centre. One of her key research interests is the health and wellbeing of women living with HIV across the life course.

Dr. Tariq led the PRIME Study, one of the largest studies of HIV and menopause internationally, which has informed national and international guidelines.  She is past Vice Chair of the British HIV Association's HIV in Pregnancy Guidelines Committee, and now leads the infant feeding section. She is a Trustee of Tommy's, the UK's leading charity funding research into pregnancy loss and preterm birth, and former Chair of the Steering Group of 4M Network, a UK-wide Mentor Mother Programme in HIV.
