Siegbert Rieg attended Medical School at the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen, Germany, and the Brown University Medical School, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He completed his residency in Dermatology and Venereology at the University Hospital in Tübingen followed by a residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University Medical Center of the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, Germany. 2023 he was appointed Full Professor and Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine II at University Medical Center Freiburg. His research interests include host-pathogen interaction and management of Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infection and endocarditis, sexually-transmitted and vector-borne infections, refugee health and the impact of climate change on infectious diseases.
