Dr. Steve Welch has been Consultant in Paediatric HIV and Infectious Diseases at Heartlands Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic, University Hospitals Birmingham since 2006. He trained in Medicine at the Universities of Oxford and London, and completed postgraduate training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology in London. He is a past chair of Chiva (Children's HIV Association of the UK and Ireland) and is Training & Education Lead for Penta (formerly the Paediatric European Network for the Treatment of AIDS) and for ptbnet (the European Paediatric TB Network). He has a broad experience of clinical research, including paediatric HIV, TB, meningitis and respiratory infection.
Steve was born in Belgium and raised and educated in Germany and the Netherlands; he enjoys walking his dog and living quietly.
