Dr Teerawat Wiwatpanit is a principal investigator at Frontier Biodesign and Biomolecular Engineering Research Team, National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Thailand. He received his Ph.D. from Driskill Graduate Program in Life Sciences, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL. He continued his postdoctoral training at the Division of Reproductive Science in Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, before returning to Thailand in 2019. His training and expertise are in tissue engineering for disease modeling and drug testing. His research interests include women’s reproductive health, infectious diseases, and tissue engineering.
Dr Wiwatpanit is also a finalist of the TDR Global crowdfunding challenge contest that aimed to build capacity for crowdfunding for infectious diseases research in LMICs. He was able to successfully launch his campaign on blocking in vitro mother-to-child transmission of the Zika virus in 2020. He met his crowdfunding target raising US$ 8,000.
