Tracy Ruckwardt, PhD

Biography

Tracy Ruckwardt is a Staff Scientist at the Vaccine Research Center (VRC), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health where her research focuses on respiratory viruses and emerging infectious diseases. She has been studying immune responses to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) at the VRC for nearly twenty years, publishing extensively on human immune responses following vaccination with the stabilized prefusion F subunit vaccine known as DS-Cav1. She is currently the Head of the Respiratory Viruses Core and has worked on vaccine development for a variety of resurging and emerging viral pathogens including paramyxoviruses, Zika, SARS-CoV-2 and enterovirus D68 (EV-D68). She is broadly interested in developing models and assays to better understand host-pathogen interactions and the generation of protective immunity, particularly for respiratory RNA viruses.
