Viet (Mason) Trinh is a rising researcher and passionate advocate for Vietnamese young key populations (YKPs) and LGBTIQ+ youth's sexual health and mental health. Currently, he serves as the Director of Programs of the Lighthouse Social Enterprise.
His work adopts a person-centered approach and encompasses community engagement and outreach, intervention design and delivery, and health policy lobbying. Viet and his team partner with the U.S. CDC, the Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam, the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, and the Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control - Ministry of Health to maximize vulnerable populations' access to HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment while fulfilling their other health needs (e.g., mental health, physical health compromised due to drug-enhanced sex).
His body of research is both scientific and community-based in nature, investigating a variety of topics pertinent to YKPs and LGBTIQ+ youth's health such as internalized stigma, determinants of risky sexual behaviors, or acceptability of the intervention.
Viet Trinh has amassed a number of peer-reviewed publications, international conference presentations, and recognition awards. Before his HIV/AIDS-related advocacy presence, he graduated from Bowling Green State University with the highest distinction and University honors for a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Such academic excellence resulted in his reception of the prestigious graduation award - Presidential Award.
