Biography

Dr. Watsamon Jantarabenjakul, MD, PhD is an infectious diseases pediatrician with a special interest in HIV/TB and emerging infectious diseases.  She is a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. She was awarded the CIPHER grant from International AIDS Society in 2016 to evaluate and compare neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral outcomes between young early antiretroviral therapy treated children with perinatally acquired HIV infection and perinatally HIV exposed uninfected children.  Currently her team’s ongoing research focuses on drug resistant tuberculosis in children, funded by the Health System Research Institute of Thailand. She has also served major management roles in Chulalongkorn University in its support to the national operations in managing the COVID-19 outbreak. She is a principal investigator of a study on the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in Thai patients and immunogenicity of COVID-19 vaccine in Thai people. Dr Jantarabenjakul is a member of the pediatric infectious disease society of Thailand. She has contributed to HIV and opportunistic infection guidelines and COVID-19 guidelines of Thailand.
