Wendy Harrison, BSc BVetMed MPH PhD MRCVS

Biography

Wendy Harrison the CEO of Unlimit Health an independent research organisation partnering with Ministries of Health in endemic countries to end parasitic disease, formally the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative within the school of Public Health, Imperial College London.

She has a veterinary degree from the Royal Veterinary College, London a PhD from in clinical pharmacology from St, Georges Hospital Medical School University of London and she holds a Master’s in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  She carried out USDA funded post-doctoral post in comparative vascular biology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia. She has also experience of working in the commercial sector, having worked in the Comparative Medicine and Biology unit at GlaxoSmithKline in an advisory role across a range of therapeutic drug development areas.

Her passion for public health and low-income countries started when she worked with an organisation, donating farm, animals to communities in rural Uganda and Rwanda, where she saw first-hand the potential synergies between strengthening the veterinary public health system and human health.

Wendy has served as a council member on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Chair of the Council of Comparative Medicine, Royal Society of Medicine, London and was founding chair of the UK Coalition against NTDs and Chair of the NTD NGO network. Wendy is currently the Co-President elect of the Royal Society of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
