Dr. William Schief is a Professor in the Immunology and Microbial Science Department at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, Director for Vaccine Design at the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), and an Associate Member of the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard. He is also a founder and board member of CompuVax, Inc., a startup biotech company focused on vaccine design.
William received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Washington. Dr. Schief’s work focuses on computationguided and structure-based design of immunogens and immunization regimens, with the goal of inducing broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV and other pathogens that have frustrated traditional vaccine design strategies.
