Yoon Jun Kim, MD, PhD

Biography

Professor Yoon Jun Kim is a distinguished hepatologist with expertise in HBV infection and hepatocellular carcinoma. He leads a Division of Gastroenterology and Liver Cancer Center of Seoul National University Hospital and offering comprehensive care for conditions like HCC, fatty liver, chronic hepatitis B, and liver transplantation. With a focus on hepatocellular carcinoma treatment and genetic factors of chronic hepatitis B infection, his research encompasses clinical studies on MASLD, viral hepatitis, and innovative therapies for HBV, fatty liver, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Prof. Kim actively employs liver transplantation, radioembolization (Yttrium-90) and novel targeted and immunotherapeutic agents for effective treatment of HCC. He holds a M.D. and a Ph.D. from Seoul National University College of Medicine and has served in various academic roles, including as Chair of academic committee and Secretary General of The Korean Liver Cancer Study Group and President of The Korean NAFLD Study Group. Currently, he serves as President of The Korean Radio-Embolization Association and The Korean Association for the study of the liver and Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Clinical and Molecular Hepatology. As the president of the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver, he is also making significant efforts towards HBV elimination.
