Dr Anita Suleiman has more than two decades of experience in HIV, from providing primary care services at the implementation unit to crafting innovative strategic plans, guidelines, policies and national investment cases for HIV in the country. Currently leading the National HIV/STI/Hepatitis C Programme at the Ministry of Health Malaysia, her involvement in getting the country validated for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission (eMTCT) of HIV and syphilis is instrumental. She also has vast experience leading the country’s HIV estimations and projections core team, Integrated Bio-Behavioural Surveillance (IBBS) survey, and Population Size Estimations (PSE) for key populations in the country. Her latest addition to HIV work includes the elimination of stigma and discrimination in government health care settings, piloting PrEP services delivery at primary care settings, and comprehensive screening and management of HIV, Hepatitis C and Methadone treatment in close settings.
