Anna Maria Żakowicz, MA, MIH

Biography

Anna Maria Żakowicz is a public health professional, educator and patient expert currently working at AHF Europe as Deputy Bureau Chief and Director of Programs. 
She focuses on implementation of people-centered care approaches in HIV and STI testing, treatment, care and prevention. She is committed to putting into practice concepts of integration, task-shifting, user-driven needs-based care and clients’ involvement in co-production of care. She works across Europe; Easter Europe has a special place in her heart. 
She serves on the Board of Trustees of Aidsfonds. Equity and access to quality HIV treatment and care were the issues she was addressing while serving as a co-chair of Global Network of People Who Live with HIV (GNP+), Civil Society Forum on HIV (CSF), a chair of European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) and board member of Medicines Patent Pool 
(MPP). She served as an expert in the WHO HIV treatment guideline development groups and a member of WHO European Region HIV Treatment Reference Group (TRG). 
Anna Maria has background in humanities and public health. She received her MA from Silesian University in Poland and MIH from University of Copenhagen. She used to work at Mykolas Romeris University and Soros International House in Vilnius, Lithuania.
