Annie Antar, MD, PhD

Biography

Dr. Annie Antar is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases. She is a physician-scientist focused on viral pathogenesis. Dr. Antar earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her MD and PhD degrees from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed internal medicine residency and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where her post-doctoral work with Drs. Robert and Janet Siliciano focused on the HIV latent reservoir. Her current work focuses on understanding the persistence of the HIV latent reservoir and, since 2020, on the long COVID. She has led or co-led two prospective cohort studies focused on long COVID, one of which is a national cohort focused on the intersection of HIV and long COVID.
