Anthony Enimil, MD

Biography

Dr Enimil is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist with expertise in general pediatrics as well as HIV and tuberculosis management. He has over 20 years’ of experience managing and caring for children and adolescents with tuberculosis and HIV infection in a resource limited country. 

He was a member of the team that developed the guidelines for managing paediatric tuberculosis, and the Consolidated Guidelines for managing HIV in Ghana. He is a member of the WHO Africa HIV Adolescents working group and chair of the Africa WHO sub-regional child TB technical working group.

He is the Unit Head of the Pediatric and Adolescents HIV/AIDS Clinic at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi and a Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate residency training in paediatrics in Ghana.

Our clinic has one of the well-established HIV transition clinics in Ghana. We have structured transition for children (0-12 years) to adolescents (13-19 years) to young adults (20-24 years). At age 25 years, young adults are finally transitioned to adult clinic. The clinic integrates clinical care with clients’ peer-led community social support interventions.
