Dr Violari, received her medical degree in Germany at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhem Universitaet Bonn and completed her training as a Paediatrician in Johannesburg, South Africa between 1993-1998. After receiving her FCPaed from the College of Medicine of South Africa she joined the Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) focusing her work in the treatment and prevention of paediatric HIV and more recently management of HIV infected adolescents. In 2002 she was appointed a Deputy Executive director and head of the Paediatric Research and Care programme at PHRU. Sine 2007 she leads the clinical research site for paediatric research within the Soweto Clinical Trials Unit funded by the National Institutes of Health.
