Tung is a community health worker, researcher, and HIV/LGBTIQ+ advocate with over 14 years of experience in research, programming, and advocacy focused on HIV, LGBTIQ+ health, and key population-led service delivery. Born in rural Central Viet Nam, Tung's lived experience of HIV-related stigma and LGBTIQ+ exclusion has profoundly shaped his leadership and deep commitment to the right to health
He currently serves as the Executive Director of Lighthouse Social Enterprise, a dedicated community-led organization in Viet Nam, and as Senior Advisor at Y+ Global, where he supports regional and global strategies centering youth leadership in advancing community health and rights.
Tung has led and contributed to over 15 community-based and multicountry research studies, with expertise in chemsex, mental health, PrEP uptake, HIV stigma, and quality improvement. He has co-authored regional, national guidelines and spoken at major conferences, including IAS, the AIDS Conference, the World Hepatitis Summit, APACC, and national policy forums. He is a co-founder of the Chemsex Asia Platform and co-hosted Viet Nam’s National LGBTIQ+ Annual Forum.
Tung was named one of Forbes Vietnam 30 Under 30 and is a recipient of the HERO Award, the Combating Stigma Award at IAS 2017, and the Global Challenge Award from MPact Global. With an Honours Master’s in Public Health and a grounded commitment to community-driven change, Tung is passionate about transforming systems through community empowerment, research, storytelling, and movement-building for the most marginalized populations.
