Biography

Dr. Ganiyu Jamiyu, is a Consultant Public Health Physician and Deputy Director in charge of Viral Hepatitis Desk, National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCP) of Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria. He is a fellow National Postgraduate Medical College Nigeria and West Africa College of Physicians.

During his tenure as Deputy Director-Viral Hepatitis Control Desk, his team has produced the first National Strategic Framework for Viral Hepatitis (2022-2026) and has made tremendous progress towards the finalization of the National Guidelines, Training Manual, Slides and SOPs on Viral Hepatitis Prevention, He is also a member of coalition team for the ongoing HEAT-Project.

Prior to his posting as the head of Viral Hepatitis Control Desk, he worked in different components of NASCP such as Strategic Information; Quality Improvement (HIV-QUAL); Treatment, Care and Support; Infection Prevention and Control, and Programme Development and Administration.

As a field epidemiologist, he was also involved in national surveys in Nigeria, such as the first Routine Immunization Survey, first National Viral Hepatitis Survey, Integrated Bio-Behavioural Surveillance Survey (IBBSS) and HIV/AIDS Sero-Prevalence Survey.

He is currently working on a few manuscripts for publication.
