Gemma Lladós, MD

Biography

Gemma Lladós obtained her MD degree at Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in Badalona, Spain. Since September 2020, she has been serving as an infectious diseases specialist in the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Fight Infectious Foundation. In this capacity, she actively provides medical care to COVID-19 patients admitted to the acute care setting.

Simultaneously, she has assumed the role of a translational clinical researcher within the research team led by Dr. Paredes, MD, PhD. Her responsibilities encompass active participation in clinical trials that have played a pivotal role in identifying and gaining approval for innovative treatments for COVID-19. Furthermore, she is an integral part of the clinical care and research team of the Long COVID-19 Unit, led by Dr. Mateu, MD, PhD. In this role, she contributes to the comprehensive management of over 1500 subjects, some of whom are participants in the prospective KING cohort that systematically collects extensive clinical information and biological samples.

Within this Unit, her specialization is centered around the evaluation of neurological symptoms, while her PhD degree focuses on the morphological and functional assessment of the vagus nerve. Her research aims to explore the potential role of the vagus nerve in the persistence of COVID-19-related symptoms.
