Dr Makuza Jean Damascene is a medical doctor with a masters’ degree in Epidemiology. He has expertise in infectious diseases prevention and control, maternal and child health, Strategic & Operational Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, manuscript writing, Health projects management and Capacity Building. He has extensive experience in clinical practice as well as the design, development, and implementation of health programming. In his 11 years of experience, He has led programs in HIV, STIs, Viral hepatitis and cervical cancer prevention and control. During that time, He has numerous publications and presentations for international audiences, particularly in the area of Viral Hepatitis. His most recent publication is 'Risk factors for viral hepatitis C infection in Rwanda: Results from a Nationwide Screening Program'. His career goal is to prevent and control infectious diseases in low limited resource setting by screening, vaccinating and treating.
Now He is in charge of Sexual Transmitted Infections Care and Treatment and Other Blood Borne infections(OBBI) in HIV/AIDS, STIs and OBBI Division within Rwanda Biomedical Center.
