Jonathan Parr, MD, MPH

Biography

Jonathan Parr is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of infectious diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Stanford University, M.D. from the University of Virginia, and his M.P.H. from the Harvard University School of Public Health. After completing his residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and later joining the Harvard Medical School faculty, Dr. Parr moved to UNC and completed fellowship training in infectious diseases. His research is focused on the molecular epidemiology of malaria, with translational projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other sites, but has recently expanded to include other infections like viral hepatitis and syphilis. He is an Associate Editor for Healthcare: The Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation. Since the onset of the pandemic, he has served as co-director of UNC infectious diseases’ inpatient COVID-19 services.
