Dr. Jose R. Castillo-Mancilla is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at The University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is a clinical researcher in HIV with a specific emphasis in clinical pharmacology, where he has contributed to the development of novel pharmacological measures of adherence and exposure to PrEP an ART. He also focuses on improving ART adherence and understanding the biological consequences of suboptimal adherence beyond viral suppression in PLWH. His research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and he is an investigator within the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, where he co-chairs a large multicenter clinical trial focused on novel therapeutic strategies for persons living with HIV who face barriers to adherence. In addition to his research activities, Dr. Castillo-Mancilla provides primary care to PLWH at the University of Colorado Hospital.
