Julianna Marais is eighteen years old and living in Cape Town. She was born with HIV, and she has been taking her treatment at FAMCRU paediatric clinic since the age of six weeks old. She was removed from her mother by the social worker and the doctors from FAMCRU due to home circumstances, that resulted on noncompliance with her medication. Nonetheless, she grew up in different children's homes because they wanted the best for her and to see her through. Currently she is residing with her foster mother, and she is studying hairdressing and stylist at Northlink College. She loves netball and has been selected to play for the Western Cape province.
