Karoline Aebi-Popp, PD, MD, MSc, is a leading physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Lindenhofspital Bern, Switzerland and a senior lecturer and researcher at the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital Bern, Switzerland. She received her PD from the University of Bern in Gynecology and holds a Master’s degree in Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.
Dr. Aebi-Popp has been actively involved in the design and conduct of many clinical studies in the field of HIV and women in collaboration with the Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS) and with the European Collaborative Study; the most important topics include pregnancy guidelines across Europe, mode of delivery, vertical transmission, breastfeeding and retention in care. Her current research interests involve menopause and HPV infection and anogenital cancer.
Dr. Aebi-Popp was past WAVE chair (Women against Viruses in Europe), which is a working group within the European Aids Clinical Society (EACS) and she is part of the governing board of EACS. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications and research awards and she is currently working as gynecologist and researcher in Bern, Switzerland.
