Dr. Hayakawa is the Chief Physician of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Disease Control and Prevention Center at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. She is a member of the Infection Control Team, and she also works for the AMR Clinical Reference Center.
She completed Infectious Diseases Fellowship as well as Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology Fellowship at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Michigan, USA. Her research focus is to produce clinically and practically relevant findings in the field of emerging infectious diseases, hospital epidemiology, and drug-resistant bacteria.
