Professor Ligang Yang graduated from Sun Yat-sen Medical University in China with a degree in clinical medicine and later obtained a master’s degree from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. With over 30 years of clinical experience in Sexual Health and Dermatovenereology, he specializes in managing patients with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and vulvar skin diseases. Notably, he diagnosed the first case of monkeypox in Guangdong Province, China.
Professor Yang has played a key role in developing multiple STI guidelines in China and has led major public health initiatives, including STI and HIV prevention programs for high-risk populations in Guangdong and the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of syphilis in rural areas. His recent research focuses on antimicrobial resistance in *Mycoplasma genitalium* and syphilis vaccine development.
