Marc Ghany, MD, MHSc, FAASLD is a Senior Investigator and Chief of the Clinical Hepatology Research Section, Liver Diseases Branch, National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD.
He is an internationally recognized leader in the hepatitis B and C field. He served as co-chair of the AASLD practice guideline on diagnosis, management, and treatment of hepatitis C. He was a primary investigator on the NIH funded Hepatitis B Research Network. He has served as an advisor for the CDC, NASEM and FDA. Dr. Ghany served as an Associate Editor of Hepatology from 2016-2021. He has published over 200 original peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. His H-index is 65 (Scopus); 75 (Google Scholar) and he has been cited over 28,000 times (Google Scholar). He has mentored over 30 students and Hepatology Fellows, many of whom have taken leadership positions in the field of hepatology.
Dr. Ghany’s research interests focus on the natural history, treatment and mechanisms of treatment response in chronic hepatitis B and C.
