Marcelo Silva, MD

Biography

Marcelo Oscar Silva is head of Hepatology and Liver Transplant Unit at Austral University Hospital, and board Member  of the Clinical Research Unit  of the Austral University Biomedical Sciences Faculty in Buenos Aires (Argentina). He earned his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine in Argentina in 1979.

Dr. Silva completed his internal medicine residency at Hospital de Clínicas José de San Martín, a Gastroenterology fellowship at the Argentinean Gastroenterology Society, and  a Hepatology fellowship  at the Center for Liver Diseases, University of Miami School of Medicine in USA. He then, spent two more years appointed as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the same University.

He has an extensive clinical trial experience in the fields of chronic hepatitis B and C virus, has published in 8 books or book chapters, more than 20 articles in peer reviewed medical journals, and more than 60 abstracts and presentations in scientific meetings. He is a former president of the Argentinean Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and current member of the Latin American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, Sociedad Colombiana de Hepatología, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and Argentinean Transplant Society.
