Dr. Pavía Ruz, graduated as Medical Doctor at the Autonomous University of Yucatán State, Mexico, then she specialized as a Pediatrician and Infectious Diseases at Federico Gomez Children’s Hospital of Mexico. She also received a master´s degree in 1991 from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. From 1991 to 1994, Dr. Pavía was research fellow in Infectious Disease at New England Medical Center Hospitals, Boston, MA. Currently she is professor at the medical school of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and head of Pediatric HIV Clinic, UNAM/General Hospital of Mexico. Along all these years she has participated in the antiretroviral treatment guidelines in Mexico and Pediatric HIV (PENTA) training course in Latin America.
Dr. Pavia's research focus has been related to several aspects of HIV in children and adolescents, such as psychological disorders, epidemiology, treatment simplification.
