Biography

Omar Sued, MD, is a certified Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease Specialist. He holds a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Acute HIV from the University of Barcelona. He worked in different settings including public and private hospitals, prisons, primary care centers in Argentina and Spain. He was the Chair for the XVI and XX Argentinean Infectious Diseases Congresses in 2016 and 2020. He has been President of the Argentinean Infectious Disease Society for the period 2019-2021 and is Representative for Latin America at the Global Council of the International AIDS Society and part of the presidential task force for COVID19. During 2012-2021 he worked as Research Director at Fundación Huésped, in Buenos Aires, designing and coordinating research focused on prevention and treatment of HIV. In June 2021 he joined the Pan American Health Organization (the WHO Office for the Americas as Regional Advisor for HIV treatment and care.
