H.E. Osama Abdelkhalek is Egypt's current Permanent Representative of Egypt to the UN in NY. He has served previously as Ambassador to Ethiopia, and the Permanent Representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. He is a career diplomat with a distinguished multilateral experience having served in Egypt's Missions to the African Union, the League of Arab States and the United Nations.
He held the positions of Deputy Permanent Representative of Egypt's mission to the UN during Egypt's membership in the United Nations Security Council in 2016-2017 and chaired the African Union Permanent Representatives Committee during Egypt chairmanship of the AU in 2019. Earlier to that, he served as Deputy Director for Egypt's Foreign Minister Cabinet and as a chief adviser on Africa. He holds a BA in Engineering from Cairo University.
