Dr. Ruth Byrne obtained her Bachelor of Medicine from King's College, London, and completed specialist training in HIV and Genitourinary Medicine in London. She is a GU/HIV consultant and Service Director at St Stephen's Centre, Chelsea, and Westminster Hospital, London, which comprises the Kobler HIV Clinic and the John Hunter Sexual Health Clinic, two of the largest HIV/sexual health services in Europe. She works between the clinical service and the Clinical Trials Facility and has extensive experience in all phase studies in HIV, viral hepatitis, and liver disease. In 2022 Dr. Byrne set up a Monkeypox assessment hub at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital which has diagnosed one of the largest cohorts with monkeypox during this outbreak.
