Dr. Tatsuya Kanto is a researcher and hepatologist/physician with expertise in immunology in liver diseases. He got his PhD degree at the Osaka University and worked as a research associate for dendritic cell biology at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, from 1998 to 2001. He worked as an Associate Professor at the Osaka University from 2003 to 2013 and moved to the National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM). His current position is the Director General at the Research Center for Hepatitis and Immunology, NCGM.
Dr. Kanto has been working with the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare to promote the Hepatitis Action Plan in Japan. His field of interest is the exploration of the pathogenesis of liver disease for the development of immune-based therapy against viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and cancer. He has published more than 260 papers and invited review articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Immunity, Journal of Immunology and Gastroenterology.
