Dr. Thomas Fitzpatrick is an acting instructor at the University of Washington and a physician-scientist who specializes in developing novel interventions to improve HIV, viral hepatitis, and STI outcomes among marginalized communities, including people who use drugs (PWUD) and men who have sex with men (MSM). He employs a community-based participatory research framework to develop, implement, and evaluate these interventions.
Currently, Dr. Fitzpatrick is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina (UNC) - South China STD Research Training Center in Guangzhou, China. His research in China focuses on developing implementation strategies that leverage social networks to increase doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) uptake to prevent bacterial STIs among MSM.
