Toshibumi Taniguchi, MD, PhD

Biography

Toshibumi Taniguchi, MD, PhD, is a graduate of Chiba University School of Medicine (2001), who completed his internal medicine residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center (2005-2008), followed by an Infectious Disease fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis (2008-2011).

After returning to Japan and earning a doctoral degree, he joined the Department of Infectious Diseases at Chiba University Hospital in 2014. Dr. Taniguchi is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases from the ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine), as well as certified by the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine and the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases.

His expertise focuses on infectious diseases, particularly HIV treatment, prevention, and education. He is the author of the Japanese PrEP guideline and DOXY-PEP guideline. His current research includes HIV prevention (PrEP) and rapid antiretroviral therapy implementation in Japan.
