Yi-Chia Huang, M.D., has demonstrated her interest in infectious diseases from the early years of medical training and after joining the Division of Infectious Diseases at the National Taiwan University Hospital since 2015. She is currently an attending physician at the National Taiwan University Hospital Hsin-Chu Branch.
Dr. Huang received her medical degree from the Kaohsiung Medical University in 2011. She completed one-year post-graduate residency in the Department of Internal Medicine at the National Taiwan University Hospital in 2012. She is particularly interested in clinical medicine and gained the Diploma for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in 2013. This was followed by a residency in the Department of Internal Medicine and fellowship in Division of Infectious Diseases at the National Taiwan University Hospital during 2014-2018. She has fully engaged and participated in several clinical studies since 2016.
Her research interests include clinical management of HIV infection, viral hepatitis coinfections, and other tropical diseases. In collaboration with colleagues, she has performed several retrospective studies, and epidemiological surveys regarding HBV vaccine, rapid antiretroviral therapy initiation, and schistosomiasis among pregnant women in both developing and developed countries. She has designed and conducted several interventional clinical trials, including one multi-center randomized controlled trial on HBV vaccination and one feasibility study of same-day ART initiation. During the COVID-19 epidemic, she was responsible for the infection controls in a COVID-19 designated hospital and had led an outbreak investigation.
