Yonatan H. Grad, MD, PhD

Biography

Yonatan H. Grad is the Melvin J. and Geraldine L. Glimcher Associate Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He received his B.A. degree from Johns Hopkins University, an M.Phil from Cambridge University, which he attended as a Churchill Scholar, and his M.D. and Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Grad’s work uses interdisciplinary methods, including basic microbiology, mathematical modeling, and epidemiology, to study how pathogens evolve and spread through populations, with publications in Science, The New England Journal of Medicine, and BMJ, among others. He served as a member of the Infectious Diseases Laboratory Working Group at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, advising on pathogen genomics efforts, and as a member of the Massachusetts external COVID-19 task force.
