Dr. Yvonne Ayerki Nartey is a senior medical officer at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast, Ghana. She completed her undergraduate medical education at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences in 2013, and a Master of Philosophy in microbiology and immunology from the same institution. She holds an MSc in Internal Medicine from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, having received the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Turner Scholarship in 2016, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Medical Epidemiology at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.
Dr. Nartey is one of a team of physicians who manage patients with viral hepatitis in the central region of Ghana and works closely with the Healthy Liver Foundation of Ghana to educate patients and the general public on viral hepatitis. She is involved in projects related to the prevention of mother to child transmission of Hepatitis B, as well as epidemiologic assessment of the burden of Hepatitis B and C virus infection in Ghana. Dr Nartey’s research interests include viral hepatitis and its sequelae of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in Ghana.
