Akifumi Takaori-Kondo received his MD at Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University in 1986 and his PhD in Hematology at Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University in 1995. He published over 100 peer reviewed papers including Nat Struct Mol Biol, PNAS, Science Advances, PLoS pathogens, Curr Biol, J Biol Chem, J Virol and Blood. He has been working on basic research on HIV-1, especially host restriction factors such as APOBEC3, as well as clinical research on AIDS. His current position is professor and chairman of Department of Hematology and Oncology, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan.
