Overview
Welcome

The International Workshop on HIV and Transgender People 2020 took place on 7-8 December 2020 as a virtual conference.

This workshop is a much-needed initiative to gather cross-disciplinary experts in a workshop setting to discuss the medical, clinical, and social challenges faced by transgender people at risk for and living with HIV. Through didactic lectures and the sharing of best practices based on real-life experiences, we aim to create a scientific platform to discuss opportunities and challenges in the provision of health care for transgender people.

The meeting aimed to reduce the knowledge gap by stimulating the cross-disciplinary exchange of information and improving the quality of life for transgender people at risk for and living with HIV.

General Information

Meeting Objectives
This workshop aims to:

- Facilitate a platform for the cross-disciplinary exchange of information;

- Provide expert knowledge to medical/clinical Health Care Professionals;

- Share experiences and real-life data/best practices to all involved stakeholders to improve the care and support for transgender people at risk for and living with HIV.
Learning Objectives
After attending this workshop, participants will be able to recognize opportunities to improve the healthcare of their transgender patients, each in their own areas of expertise. This includes preventing HIV transmission, tailor-made approaches to reach out to those at risk, improved strategies to provide access to care, approaches to decriminalizing the position of transgender individuals, and more.
