Biography

Charles A. B. Boucher received his MD cum laude at the Academic Medical Center in 1987. In 1993 he finished his PhD in Virology at the University of Amsterdam. He published over 250 peer reviewed papers, that have appeared in Science, New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Nature Medicine, Journal of Infectious Diseases and AIDS. He coordinated several success European funded programs. He was the coordinator of a large network (33 countries) in Europe that studies the transmission of drug resistant HIV and chairs the European Society for Antiviral Research (ESAR). He was professor in Virology at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, clinical microbiologist at the Erasmus Medical Center, coordinator of the Honours Class with the medical curriculum and scientific director at Virology Education, Utrecht, Netherlands.

Prof. Boucher was an organizer of international workshops, meetings and conferences, a consultant throughout Europe and the United States, a reviewer for scientific journals and co-chairman of several international committees. He was the author of numerous publications.
