About this Program

This international workshop is a novel initiative designed to foster collaboration between healthcare professionals and the artificial intelligence (AI) technology sector. It aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI advancements and practical clinical applications, encouraging clinicians to step into the digital age and embrace AI to propel medicine into the future. By facilitating the exchange of knowledge through abstract and application "pitch" submissions, the workshop provides a unique platform for providers to quickly understand and adapt to the latest developments. This dynamic platform will kick-start a lasting partnership between infectious disease medicine and AI technology, ultimately enhancing patient care and improving clinical outcomes.

The workshop focuses on the effective use of AI in managing infectious diseases. Given the rapid advancements in AI and its profound current and potential impact on healthcare, the workshop is designed to be a space where researchers and medical professionals can discuss and collaborate on translating research findings into clinical practice. Additionally, the event aims to address the associated risks and opportunities of implementing AI in infectious disease management, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the technology's potential and its challenges. By emphasizing human-machine teaming, the workshop seeks to augment the practice style of clinicians, not replace their clinical decision-making.

This revolutionary workshop aims to accelerate research, improve clinical care, and build lasting collaborations. It will not only advance the integration of AI into infectious disease medicine but also pave the way for future innovations in patient care. By bringing together experts from both the AI and medical fields, the workshop will serve as a catalyst for breakthroughs that can transform the landscape of healthcare, making it more efficient, effective, and responsive to emerging challenges.

Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, 5 September 2025 at 11:59 PM PST
Research Abstracts and Innovation Showcases
  • The 2nd Artificial Intelligence in Infectious Diseases Workshop 2025 aims to be the catalyst for research dissemination and technology implementation in this rapidly advancing field. To foster conversation and collaborations between our key-opinion leaders, innovators, industry experts, and participants, we will offer the opportunity to present your research or innovation to your peers in a number of ways.

    Research abstracts and innovation showcases will be given time within the program via oral presentations, poster sessions, or exhibition spaces.

Research Abstracts

Research abstracts are concise summaries of academic research that present the key points and findings in a clear and succinct manner. These abstracts are typically submitted by researchers, academics, or students who are involved in exploring new theories, methodologies, or data analysis related to artificial intelligence in infectious diseases. A research abstract includes an introduction to the problem or hypothesis, a brief description of the methodology used, the main findings or results, and the implications of these findings. The focus is on advancing scientific knowledge, highlighting novel insights, and contributing to the academic discourse within the field. Key identifiers of a research abstract include:

  • Emphasis on original research and data.
  • Structured format: introduction, methods, results, and conclusion.
  • Presentation of empirical evidence or theoretical analysis.
  • Peer-reviewed or intended for academic review.
Categories for Abstract Submission
For purposes of review and programming, abstracts are divided into topical categories. The selection of the most appropriate category is important as it determines who reviews your abstract.

The Program Committee reserves the right to reassign your abstract to a more appropriate category.

- Diagnosis and Early Detection
- Epidemiology and Surveillance
- Treatment and Management
- Drug Discovery and Development
- Prevention and Predictive Analysis
- Public Health and Patient-Centered Services
- Digital Equity

Artificial Intelligence in Infectious Diseases Workshop 2025 accepts new original data as well as encored abstracts. All abstracts must focus on Artificial Intelligence in Infectious Diseases and contain up-to-date information at the time of the conference.
General Guidelines
Abstracts should contain the following four components:

- Background: A concise statement of the issue under investigation or a hypothesis;

- Material and Methods: The experimental methods used (including the statistical analyses employed);

- Results: Specific findings (promises such as "to be completed" or "to be presented" are not acceptable);

- Conclusions: A summary of findings that are supported by your results (statistical analyses used to support the conclusions, where appropriate, should be included; concluding statements such as "the results will be discussed" are not acceptable).

Please note that abstracts cannot be accepted if tables or graphs are included. The maximum word count for the abstract body is 500 words.

Abstracts are considered official communications to the conference and will be treated confidentially. Submitters of accepted abstracts agree to attend the meeting and present their abstract as scheduled.

We encourage you to use person-first language in your abstract(s). View our guidelines here: https://academicmedicaleducation.com/person-first-language
Abstract Submission
Authors can submit their abstracts electronically until the deadline. You will be redirected to the submission website. Please follow the step-by-step directions to upload the abstract. To ensure your abstract retains any special characters or formatting, the abstract must be in Microsoft Word format.
Options for Presentations
- Oral presentations during the workshop program; or
- Poster presentations to be displayed in the workshop space and highlighted during poster tours.

In order to be eligible for an accepted abstract, you must submit your work through the abstract submission portal.
Poster Presentation Instructions
Poster presenters are expected to attend onsite.

Posters need to meet the following dimensions A0 size (approx. 33" x 47") in portrait format.

Please display the number of your poster in the upper right corner of your poster.

Once onsite:
Poster presenters are requested to stand near their posters during the poster session.

We advise you to prepare hand-outs of your poster on Letter or A4 format.

Please hang your posters as early as possible. All posters must be displayed from the opening session to the closure of the meeting.

Pushpins and/or velcro will be provided.
Innovation Showcases

Unlike research abstracts, showcases are geared towards demonstrating the implementation and real-world impact of AI technologies. These presentations often include demonstrations, case studies, or prototypes that illustrate how the technology works and its benefits. The focus is on innovation, practicality, and market readiness, aiming to attract potential collaborators, investors, or users. Key identifiers of an innovation showcase include:

  • Emphasis on applied technology and solutions.
  • Demonstrations of products or prototypes.
  • Focus on market readiness, user benefits, and practical implementation.
  • Presentations from industry professionals, start-ups, or other stakeholders.
Requirements
1) Those interested in presenting an Innovation Showcase must submit a proposal via email.

2) Submit the proposal by the deadline. There will be running approvals, so please submit any proposal at your earliest convenience to improve your chances of approval.

3) The proposal must be:
- Maximum two pages in length
