Charles you are already missed. The fire and passion you brought to HIV research and education was unequaled. Your interest in finding ground truth always governed your actions and words, and I never saw you care where or who that truth came from. I always appreciated not only learning from you, but that you seemed open to learning from me despite your massive intellectual advantage...your superpower was bringing out the insights and good questions from everyone in the room, and understanding how to constructively encourage debate in the pursuit of understanding.

Oooh very devastated! HIV research was synonymous with the name Charles! Having interacted with Charles in Rome, Germany and Melbourne brought us very close. I worked with Charles on and off over the years, but I always came away with the feeling that he was a good friend. With a very heavy heart I received the shocking news...Charles will be terribly missed. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Oh my gosh. What a terrible loss but his legacy will live on. I had the pleasure of working closely with Charles for many years on a number of innovative projects. What a person he was! He will be sorely missed.

I have very fond memories of Charles from the "early" days of HIV antiretroviral therapy development. As we worked (along with many others) to understand the nature of the virus' resistance to HIV therapies, I treasured my discussions and interactions with Charles. Words cannot express the loss. His memory will be cherished.....

I can't believe I will never see him again and hear him presenting. I first met him in Kigali in 2018, and from that time I all the time met him in every HIV related conference I attended. It's really heartbreaking. He was someone who is humble and he listened to every one attentively! His legacy will prevail! May his soul rest in eternal peace! Charles will be missed very much. He can't be replaced and I feel so sad for the loss of sensitive, caring thoughtful loving man. He was quite entepeneurial and still very grounded in science and evidence. As a person living with HIV for over 30 years I have had the honor of participating in many international conferences and having the pleasure of listening to Dr. Boucher in plenary sessions, panels and as main speaker. He was not only highly informed but always willing to listen to others. I will remember him with reverence and fondness. I would like to join others in sending my condolences to his family.

I am completely in shock. I know Charles as a colorful, dedicated, friendly, and skilled Scientist. Sending my condolences to family, friends, and all colleagues.

I first met Charles at a Keystone meeting in the early '90s and it was already clear that he was going to be a leader in the field of HIV virology, as well as a leader in the field of drinking everyone else under the table late into the night. I am so grateful that our paths continued to cross throughout the intervening years, both with VE and PENTA: he could always be relied upon to make us think, to drive forwards the science, and to propel us to deliver innovative teaching. Heart-breaking that he has died so young. To his family, thank you for sharing him with us. Be proud of the immense respect in which he is held in our collective memories.
